Compare & Sync

Diff schema and row data between two connections and generate a sync script in the target's dialect.

Compare & Sync takes two connections — a source and a target — and shows exactly what differs, at two levels:

  • Schema — tables, columns, types, indexes, and constraints.
  • Row data — the actual rows, not just DDL, so you can see which records differ or are missing on either side.

Run a compare#

  1. Open Compare & Sync and pick the source and target connections. Before the first compare they sit in a setup card with a swap button; afterwards, New compare takes you back to it.
  2. Choose what to compare — schema, row data, or both — and start.
  3. Long compares can be stopped: Stop buttons cancel schema comparison, row-data comparison, and sync-script generation in the backend, not just in the UI.

Apply a sync script#

From the differences, generate a sync script in the target engine's own SQL dialect — no manual translation between, say, Postgres and MySQL syntax. Every generated statement is shown before it runs; nothing applies silently.

Applying a script to the target is a typed confirmation — you type the target's name first — so a destructive sync can't happen with one stray click.

Migration Studio#

For whole-database moves, Migrate Database walks the same diff machinery end to end: pick source and target, review the generated DDL and data plan, and run it with progress and a full log. It handles the column-type mapping between engines (including timezone columns on Postgres → MySQL) and, as of v1.2.0, works from SQL Server sources as well.

Engine support#

Compare & Sync and Migration Studio run on the SQL engines. SQL Server sources are not supported in Compare & Sync yet (core browsing, querying, and backup & restore are).
