Installation
Download and install rdSQL Desktop on macOS, Windows, or Linux.
rdSQL Desktop ships as a lightweight native installer for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Download the latest build from the Download Center or from GitHub Releases, then install it like any other app.
After installing, the app checks for updates automatically and offers them in place — you don't need to re-download anything for future releases.
macOS#
- Download the
.dmgfrom the Download Center. - Open it and drag rdSQL into Applications.
- Launch the app.
Note: the build is not Apple-notarized yet, so the first launch may say the app "is damaged" or comes from an "unidentified developer". That is Gatekeeper reacting to the missing notarization, not a broken download. Clear it with:
xattr -cr /Applications/rdSQL.appThen open rdSQL again.
Windows#
- Download the installer (
.msi/.exe) from the Download Center. - Run it and follow the prompts.
Windows SmartScreen may warn about an unsigned app — choose Run anyway. Like the macOS warning above, this is about code-signing certificates, not about the binary itself.
Linux#
Grab the .AppImage (or the distro package where offered) from the Download Center, make it executable, and run it:
chmod +x rdSQL_*.AppImage
./rdSQL_*.AppImageBuild from source#
rdSQL is open source — clone the repository and build it locally. You need Node.js v20+ and Rust/Cargo v1.75+:
git clone https://github.com/rdsqlhq/rdsql.git
cd rdsql
npm install
make dev # run the desktop app in dev mode (Tauri + Vite)
make release # optimized build + installer for your platformSee CONTRIBUTING.md in the repository for the full toolchain list.
Next steps#
- Quick start — create your first connection and run a query.
